Mark Boulet

Research Fellow

Mark completed his Masters of Environmental Science at Monash University and his undergraduate studies at the University of Melbourne and the Australian National University. He is a part-time PhD candidate looking at issues of household food waste and consumer behaviour.

As a BWA Research Fellow, Mark has worked on a range of projects applying behavioural science approaches and thinking issues such as household food waste, water pollution, community bushfire safety, stormwater pollution and wildlife management. These projects were for a wide spectrum of government and community sector organisations including the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), Sustainability Victoria, EPA NSW, OzHarvest and Green Music Australia.

Mark also established the “Understanding human behaviour to influence change” unit within Monash’s Master of Environment and Sustainability and coordinated the unit for five years. It was frequently ranked amongst the top 5% of all Monash units based on outstanding student feedback.

Mark’s background is in environmental sustainability and education. He worked as an environmental educator in Thailand, developed recycling and green purchasing systems for universities and engaged householders in sustainable living initiatives. He is particularly proud of the six years he spent managing, and growing, the multi-award winning Green Steps training program for university students at the Monash Sustainable Development Institute.

Mark tries hard not to bore people with endless tails of trail running, camping, hiking and outdoor gear. Sadly, he is not always successful.
