Dr Julia Meis-Harris

Research Fellow

Julia is a social and environmental psychologist with a bachelor degree in Business Psychology (Leuphana University Lueneburg, Germany), a master degree in Psychology (University of Cologne, Germany) and a PhD from the University of Melbourne.

Before following her interests in psychology, Julia worked as a finance and insurance broker in Germany. She joined BehaviourWorks in 2018 where she works predominantly with our environmental partners on a diverse range of projects, including the Victorians Value Nature survey as part of Victoria’s Biodiversity Strategy 2037.

Julia led the multiagency work ‘Safer Together’, which seeks to reduce the risk of bushfire in Victoria by involving local communities in decision-making about bushfire management. From fire to water, she also explores opportunities to engage landholders in protecting waterways and swamps in Victoria.

Before joining BehaviourWorks, Julia was part of the CRC for Low Carbon Living as a junior collaborator, helping to develop an index to gain insights about the willingness of Australians to adopt a low carbon lifestyle. At the Centre for Ethical Leadership, Julia worked on the development of a research project aimed at providing policy support for people with disabilities.

In her spare time, you can find Julia rowing up and down the Maribyrnong river and enjoying time in nature.
